Momochi Seaside Park

A healing spot where you can feel the nice sea breeze and relax.

This is a seaside park that spreads out along Hakata Bay and is closest beach park to the city center. Throughout the year, local families and tourists come for a break. Especially in summer, it is very popular with beach-goers swimming and playing beach sports! Children are full of smiles, playing in the waves and on the sand and running around the beach.

It is also recommended as a date spot where couples can hold hands and take a leisurely walk along the beach. If you enjoy the open atmosphere in the daytime, just wait until dusk. You can experience a spectacular evening view of the sunset over the mountains which colors the sea a beautiful orange color.

Sazae-san Street

1 minute walk from the Fukuoka Tower

The birth place of this popular anime character!

"Sazae-san" a popular Japanese manga featuring characters named after the sea creatures such as turban shell, tuna, and wakame seaweed.
Sazae-san street is so named because in about 1945 the author Ms. Machiko Hasegawa was taking a walk along Momochi beach and came up with the idea of naming the characters after sea creatures.
The street stretches for about 1.6 km from the Wakiyamaguchi intersection which is near the Fukuoka Subway Airport Line "Nishijin" station to the enterance of Momochi Seaside Park. Many local people say that the cobbled street which leads to Fukuoka Tower holds a mystic power, so this may be a spiritual site? If you are interested please take a visit.

Fukuoka City Museum

Exhibiting the "Gold Seal" as seen in historical textbooks

The museum exhibits a national treasure, Kinin (Gold Seal) which was discovered in an excavation on Shikanoshima Island in the Higashi-ku area in Fukuoka, Nihongou spear which is mentioned in the Kuroda-bushi song, and valuable materials which have a connection to the Fukuoka feudal lord Kuroda family. This is a place where you can discover Fukuoka’s history. The Gold Seal in the permanent exhibition has significant historical value and is often featured in textbooks. It is worth seeing!
Also, if you hold your free-loan tablet over the exhibit, something will pop up on the screen, so even children and those who are not interested in history can enjoy the exhibit. Please take advantage of this feature.

Fukuoka Citizens Disaster Prevention Center

Learn how to protect yourself with a disaster simulation experience!

This is a facility where you can experience a realistic virtual earthquake, strong winds and fires, and acquire the knowledge and skills to protect yourself from various disasters.
The earthquake experience has a maximum seismic intensity of 7, and the strong wind experience has a maximum wind speed of 30 meters per second, which is a shocking experience where you can't stand up without grasping the handrail. In the fire extinguishing training, we will use the fire extinguisher while watching the image of a fire, there is no need to panic!
A real fire-fighting helicopter is also on display, and the Sawara fire station is just next door, so small children who like working vehicles will be excited.
